Ontbirders,
For the winter listers that have not yet gone to see these lovely winter birds,
all 5 previously reported warblers were alive and well today at Sedgewick park
in Oakville.
The tally is:
Yellow-rumped Warbler-1
Blackpoll Warbler-1
Cape May Warbler-1
Nashville Warbler-1
Orange-crowned Warbler 2 (very strong likelyhood that there are 3)
+ at least 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets also in the mix.
They were all viewed well by Myself, Lisa Teskey, Andrew Keaveney, Barry
Coombs, Andrew Don et al.and were very obliging.
Today they seemed to be really focusing on a little building just west beyond
the fence of the water treatment here. They would fly and land on the building,
and were also feeding on the ground around the building. We thought there may
have been a recent hatch of insects.
Directions:
>From the QEW East, take Third Line south to Hixon Drive, go east till the end,
>and park here. Walk the path through the forest to the pipeline, go south
>towards the lake. Walk along the fence of the treatment plant south and check
>the shrubby area here just east of the fence.
Best,
Len Manning
