Birders,

A stunning male HARLEQUIN DUCK was brought to my attention this afternoon.
It was swimming close to shore at Courtright (just a little south of county
road 80 or Courtright Line).
It is probably the same one that I saw around Christmas time north of
Mooretown from a private residence, but had not been sighted since Boxing
Day.

Also of note in the area is a TRUMPETER SWAN associating with Tundra Swans
at or near Cathcart Park north of Sombra. It has been quite some time since
we have seen a Trumpeter Swan on the river! There are quite a few Tundra
Swans (and of course Mute Swans) on the river this winter.

With the unusually mild weather, things have spread out. The best spot for
waterfowl, etc. is at Cathcart Park.

Directions: From highway 40 between Wallaceburg and Sarnia, find Courtright
Line (Rd. #80). Follow west to the river and turn south. The Harlequin was
about a half km south of here.
Cathcart Park is farther south between Stanley Line and White Line north of
Sombra. A park sign is there.

Cheers,
