Yesterday, January 28, at around 3:00 PM, my daughters and I spotted no
less than 8 juvenile bald eagles along the ice on the shores of Peche
Island directly across from Lakeview Marina in Windsor. (corner of
Riverside Dr. and Riverdale Ave.) Some would occasionally fly back up to
roost in the trees, but they were generally sticking around on the edge of
the ice, occasionally stopping to catch a meal. They were all just hanging
out there together, some in groups of 4 at a time. There are also a great
abundance of gulls and ducks fishing in the Detroit River there as well.
Cheers. Marcie Glajch, Windsor ON
