Hi Ontbirders: Took a late day spin around the west end of Ottawa. The heavily barred Snowy Owl was at the same location along Rushmore road between Old Richmond Road and Eagleson. It was perched high atop the 7th set of hydro pylons in from the road....if you are facing Eagleson.
At least 4 Gray Partridge were seen near the road closer to Old Richmond road. I'm sure they were part of a larger flock but with a -25 C windchill, I did not linger long outside my car. The second Snowy Owl, a pretty much all white male was perched on top of a pole right next to the road on Fallowfield road between Shea and Eagleson. Closer to Shea. This was at 5:45pm when it was already dark but it still caught my eye as I drove by. Check the adjoining roads such as Aitkens (sp?) as the owl moves around. Happy birding. W. Hum www.pbase.com/golfpic Directions: Heavily barred Snowy Owl. Get off the Queensway at March Road/Eagleson Exit. Follow Eagleson and continue for some distance to Rushmore. Turn onto Rushmore. Second Snowy Owl. Almost all-white male. Same directions as above but turn right on Fallowfield from Eagleson and head towards Shea. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
