The feeders (visible from the road) at the west end of Larose Forest on the 
Clarence-Cambridge Rd continue to be very active with flocks of EVENING 
GROSBEAK, PINE GROSBEAK and WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL (4).
 
The first reports of RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD this year were; (5) at River Rd and 
Mitch Owens Rd in Manotick and (2) at Upper Aylmer Rd at Ch. Rivermead in 
Aylmer on the 12th.
 

Although not many birds of interest have been seen along the Eardly-Masham road 
lately a local birder reported on the 12th;
- A flock of 200+ Snow Buntings contained one Lapland Longspur - Chemin 
Tremblay 
- A Song Sparrow and a male Red-bellied Woodpecker - the feeders around Chemin 
de Hirondelles
- One Hoary Redpoll mixed with several Commons at the feeder along Chemin 
Bradley, just west of Chemin Eardley Masham
- 2 adult Bald Eagles and one Golden Eagle were in a field along Hwy 148, just 
before the split ends (after Luskville) 
 
Interesting sighting were;
- PINE GROSBEAK (8-10) behind the Nortel campus on Carling Ave on the 7th and 
continuing at the Duck Club feeders on March Valley Rd near Riddell Dr
- HOARY REDPOLL (2) at Mer Bleue Conservation Area on the 9th
- BELTED KINGFISHER (1), very rare here in the winter, at the creek on March 
Valley Rd north of Klondike Rd on the 9th 
- RED-TAILED HAWK (5) and HORNED LARK (20+) on Trail Rd on the 10th 
- SONG SPARROW (1) continues at a Meadowlands feeder
- CEDAR WAXWING (2) continue in the Britannia Conservation Area woods on the 
11th
- GRAY PARTRIDGE (4) were seen on the 7th and the 10th on the south side of 
Rushmore Rd where the creek crosses Rushmore 
- CAROLINA WREN continues along the fence on the west side of the Britannia 
Conservation Area and another is being seen intermittently since before 
Christmas in Carleton Place 
- BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER (1 female) continues to be seen from the Lime Kiln 
Trail in the forest fire burn area and a male was seen in the woods near Greens 
Creek on the Rockcliffe Pkwy on the 9th 
- BARROW'S GOLDENEYE (male) behind the Rideau Tennis Club on the 8th and just 
south of the Hurdman bridge on the 11th
- AMERICAN ROBIN (1) on Cedarview Rd just north of Fallowfield Rd and at 
Delmeade near Jockvale in Barrhaven on the 10th
- GOLDEN EAGLE (1 imm.) near the corner of Grove Rd and Tatlock Rd west of 
Almonte and south of Clayton on the 10th
- BOREAL CHICKADEE (1) at a feeder in Val-des-Monts on the 13th
