Jeremy Bensette and I spent the last half-hour studying an adult California
Gull above the falls, close to the old barge. It was on the icy rocks directly
to the right of the barge (upriver) with a group of Herring Gulls and
Ring-billed Gulls. Still present now.

Some key field marks: slightly darker mantle than RBGU and HERG, intermediate
in size between the two species, relatively long bill with red and black
markings distally, appeared to have a dark eye (though tough to tell with the
distance), yellow legs. It flew short distances and had a lot of black in the
wingtips. It had a fairly clean head with minimal streaking compared to CAGUs I
have seen on the river in previous Novembers and Decembers.

Park at Dufferin Islands and walk across the road, and scan along the river
here.
