In the first harbour cell just west of the last parking lot off of Kipling Ave, unafraid, it was > ten metres off shore. I'm not certain it is a black scoter because of its' bill, which is mostly blue, except near the end where itchanges colour. It appeared to have a distinctive Cyclops eye at the of its' bill, which was not mentioned as a field mark in the two guides I consulted (National Geographic and Birds of Ontario). Had a nice habit of hopping totally out of the water to dive. Col Sam Smith Park is at the base of Kipling Ave on Lake Ontario in Toronto. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
