March 31 - This morning at the heron colony on Weseloh Rocks (the islands by the sunken barge) above the Horseshoe Fall, there were 5 GREAT EGRETS (two at nests) 28 Black-crowned Night-Herons, and 49 Double-crested Cormorants (about 20 on nests). Also seen were 8 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 6 Iceland Gulls. Navy Island (about 5 KM upstream from the falls) 12:15 - 12:28 PM the 2 adult Bald Eagles were perched about 15 feet above the nest. The nest can only be seen from the New York side of the Niagara River.
