Earlier posts referred to success at Westley's Point along the St. Lawrence
River east of Lancaster. That and most other local areas are now free of
ice offering less of an attraction for birds to retreat to during the day.
The birds are now being seen in large numbers north of Lancaster mainly
along Concession 2 and along Cty Rd 34 at Arlington Rd., about 3 km north
of town. Today the area contained about 50,000 birds in multiple flocks.
The flock at Arlington Rd stretched right to the County Rd and if you
remained in your car offered excellent viewing. If birds are in fields near
a road do not get out or they will move on. Beyond that it is Ok. The
Greater White-fronted Goose was relocated there amidst the flock.

Other areas to check: In the next few days concessions beyond #4 may have
birds and areas along the road linking Lancaster with Williamstown and
further east along Raisin River had multiple small to medium-sized flocks
on fields today. The area further north along Cty Rd 34 just south of Green
Valley is flooding and at times has birds and at other times has none.

Areas north of Hwy 417 along the South Nation River were not yet reporting
any birds.

Directions: Exit Hwy 401 at Lancaster. At the stop light at the end of the
exit ramp go left through Lancaster and proceed 3 km north to Concession 2
and Arlington Rd. After that check concessions east and north up to
Concession 4. Green Valley is further north along Cty Rd 34 and
Williamstown is east of Lancaster. Backtrack to Lancaster and turn right on
the street after Spruce St. Birds were at multiple locations.
