This morning was completely different from yesterday. Clear sky but cold and very windy kept most birds of all types out of the air. There was one large flock of Snow Geese, about 10,000, just east of the intersection of Cty. Rd 34 and Concession 2. Another large flock of thousands headed into a back field between Concession 1 and 2 but was not visible from the roads. There were a few hundred on the river east of the South Lancaster wharf. There were small groups of Canadas here and there and no flocks of puddle ducks (Pintails, Mallards and Blacks) like there were yesterday. Standing water in fields is frozen again. Spring is having regular setbacks this year - normal.
Brian Morin Directions: Exit Hwy 401 at Lancaster. At the stop light at the end of the exit ramp go left through Lancaster and proceed 3 km north to Concession 2 and Arlington Rd. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
