Cold weather since yesterday froze some of the flooded fields along Milton Road and at Cobb Creek. Yet at Cobb creek the water level rose since last night as evidenced by the flooding of a side road that wasn't flooded last night. Milton Road today had 1000+ Canada Geese (one had a white back), the same two Sandhill Cranes at yesterday's location, a female Northern Harrrier, a Rough-legged Hawk and 3 firsts for the year for me: 1 male Northern Pintail, 1 male American Wigeon, and three male Brown-headed Cowbirds. The latter were hanging out with starlings and Red-winged Blackbirds.
The flooded fields around Frank Kenny Rd had several hundred Canada Geese, but nothing else. Cobb Creek had a few dozen Canada Geese in the distance, and one Rough-legged Hawk. Still no Snow Geese. -- *www.babina.ca* Robert Alvo Author: "Being a Bird in North America" (2013) Tel.: 613-236-0660 219-140 Mann Ave. Ottawa Ontario K1N 1E5 Canada [email protected] _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
