Surveyors needed for Breeding Bird Survey in Northern Ontario and Manitoulin Island
Skilled birders are needed to run Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) routes located in Northern Ontario. Several priority routes are available near Dryden and Geraldton, and there are additional routes in need of surveyors elsewhere. We also need a surveyor for a route near Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island. Volunteers must have excellent birding by ear skills, a reliable vehicle, and be able to survey one or more routes in June or early July. A special financial assistance program is available to defray travel expenses for skilled birders who agree to survey one or more priority BBS route(s) in northern Ontario for a minimum of three years. The Northern Ontario BBS travel assistance program is being coordinated by Bird Studies Canada, in cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Canada.
