Hi everyone. I am posting this on behalf of my wife Melissa Mance-Coniglio
who found a probable RUFF when we were out walking this evening at Iroquois
NWR in Genesee County. I thought this might be of interest given the rare
nature of this species. The location is roughly an hour's drive from the
border crossings. Here is her Genesee Birds post below. I'll add some
directional details here:

For those with navigation devices the location of the bird in Kumph Marsh is
43.11923 deg North, 78.43249 West, and the location of the parking lot
Melissa mentioned is 43.11688 North, 78.43142 West (sorry I'm a geographer)
Google Street View map of parking lot location - when parking make sure to
take the mowed trail behind the welcome building, NOT the Kanyoo trail that
starts across the parking lot from the building and heads into the woods...

This evening at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in the Kumpf Marsh I
spotted a male transitional plumage RUFF. The photo is on the link below
(it was sunset so the light is not great). Hopefully the bird sticks around
for more to enjoy! It is on Feeder road, if you park at the trail head and
walk to feeder road turn right the bird was on the left hand side in among
many other pipers.

Good luck!
