For those coming to try for the Egret tomorrow, please respect the private
property on either side of the pond. Today, a few people sporting
both types of optics walked along the pond edge and up along the top of
the bank beside our house. Please be aware that the neighbouring landowners
both own out into the pond as this is a human-made pond from the mill
dam, so I don't think high-water mark rules apply as it is controlled
water. As well, the chain link fence is not a property boundary but keeps
our dogs in the yard so they don't harass the birds. Which is why people
shouldn't walk the banks- it harasses the bird which was observed
happening a few times today. Finally, the other reason we don't want people
walking the properties is we don't want to be responsible for people's bad
judgement and inability to take responsibility if they injure themselves on
someone else's land (A sad reality of today's litigious atmosphere). So,
please respect the bird and the landowners.

Thank you and good birding,
Ben Walters
