I spent the morning birding with Monique Fischer at Col. Sam Smith Park, which
historically has been a good place to see birds in the Toronto area during
migration.

Overall volumes of migrants so far at CSSP and nearby lakeside parks to date
this year has been mediocre, although varieties of species has been decent for
this time of year in the GTA.

Highlights we saw today included Great Crested Flycatcher (along the small
rivulet near the pump house), Warbling Vireo (near the red osier dogwood
patch), Swainson's Thrush and a number of warblers at or near the "bowl"
including Cape May, Blue-Winged, Nashville, Black and White, Black-throated
Blue and Yellow.

As it doesn't appear a fallout is in the forecast in the next few days, it is
likely to be more of the same at CSSP and nearby lakeside parks until a change
in the current weather system - mediocre volumes of migrant stopovers, but
ever-increasing variety as each day passes.

Col. Sam Smith Park is located just South of Kipling Avenue and Lakeshore Blvd.
in the west end of Toronto.
