Greetings,
Two male Harlequin Duck were observed just off the east side of the Port
Weller east pier by John Kaethler, a naturalist at about noon today.
Directions: From QEW, exit at Niagara Street and head north on Niagara Street. Continue along Niagara until it ends at Lakeshore Road. Turn right onto Lakeshore Road and cross the Welland Canal at Lock 1. Drive until Seaway Haulage Road, turn left onto this road, and continue until you reach the recreation trails along the canal and a gate. Walk out on the east pier road until you reach the pond on your right (about 1km). Just past the pond is a trail leading to the right that will bring you across to the east side of the pier. The Harlequin were about 5 meters off shore to your right about half way down the pond.
