Apologies for the late post given I have to go in the city for internet access
here. I had an ADULT Mississippi Kite fly over heading north at 6pm. At the
time I was standing just behind the washrooms at the Sanctuary. I realize the
bird may or may not be seen again tomorrow. At least myself and 2 other people
standing around watching Kinglets got a good view. More of a note of interest
considering the other one reported today was a juvenile. The bird I saw was an
adult (greyish with a black tail) It was moving fairly fast. Certainly seems
like a few of these birds are off course. I was also very fortunate to have
seen the Swallow-Tailed today. Very nice indeed!
Also of note; the previously reported Mourning Warbler was still moving around
the tram loop near dusk. Not being cooperative with everyone. A few people
stayed after dusk at the tip to see if the Chuck Will's Widow would call and it
did not. We did have a Whippoorwill on the road on the way out just north of
the Visitor Centre parking lot.
Good birding,
Jay PetersonToronto
