Good Morning Birders, Rondeau has been fairly quiet again this morning, but a couple interesting birds have been found.
Most people looking for Prothonotary Warbler have been disappointed, but 1 was seen this morning on the Marsh Trail. At least 1 Hooded Warbler is still present on Spicebush Trail as well as on South Point Trail. Other birds from around the park include as many as 4 White-eyed Vireos on South Point Trail, a Blue-winged Warbler heard on Spicebush Trail and an early Gray-cheeked Thrush on Tulip Tree Trail. Late additions to yesterday's report include an Eastern Whip-poor-will and several American Woodcocks heard after dark at the Pony Barn. At least 1 Wilson's Phalarope continued with a variety of other shorebirds in the sprinkler cells at the Blenheim Sewage Lagoons. Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre. More information on the park's nature programs and the Friends of Rondeau is available at the Friends' website: www.rondeauprovincialpark.ca. Directions: Take exit 101 from Highway 401 and drive South 16 km on Chatham Kent Road 15. Turn right and follow the signs to the park. The Bird Sightings Book, Bird Sightings Board, Bird Checklists and other relevant information are to be found at the Visitor Centre. To reach the Visitor Centre from the park Gate, travel 6 km South on Rondeau Road to Gardiner Ave., then follow it around the bend to the parking lot.
