Hi birders, Correction from yesterday's report: the cottage with sporadically visiting Yellow-throated Warbler(s) is #17372, NOT the non-existent #13732. This is just North of the visitor centre along Lakeshore Rd. There have been no reports of this rarity yet today but it is likely still present.
Very few reports have come in this morning and walking the trails it feels like there are very few migrants around, with even White-throated and White-crowned Sparrows being hard to find. On my hike this morning at South Point Trail we found a few warblers including a stunning male Blackburnian glowing in the sun. Other birds along the eastern section of the trail included Black-and-white, Black-throated Green and Magnolia Warbler, Red-headed Woodpecker, Veery and Golden-crowned Kinglet. Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre. More information on the park's nature programs and the Friends of Rondeau is available at the Friends' website: www.rondeauprovincialpark.ca. Directions: Take exit 101 from Highway 401 and drive South 16 km on Chatham Kent Road 15. Turn right and follow the signs to the park. The Bird Sightings Book, Bird Sightings Board, Bird Checklists and other relevant information are to be found at the Visitor Centre. To reach the Visitor Centre from the park Gate, travel 6 km South on Rondeau Road to Gardiner Ave., then follow it around the bend to the parking lot.
