Hello birders, The BLACK-NECKED STILTS are still being seen at Hillman's Marsh in the shorebird cell, though perhaps also look for them in Hilman Creek off the bridge just north of the entrance to the Conservation Area.
Another beautiful day at Point Pelee, and the birding continues to be slow but many good sightings have been made. The Tip hosted several good gull species including GLAUCOUS, at least 3 LITTLE, and a LAUGHING GULL, though the latter species did not stay long. Also noted were several species of common vireo and a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO. A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was moving north and south along the west beach. There was also at least one RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, and the FOPP hike noted a PURPLE FINCH. Off of the west beach SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were seen. Tilden Woods had HOODED, ORANGE-CROWNED, CAPE MAY and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH among other warbler species. -- Good Birding, Festival of Birds Hike Leaders: Pete R, Karl, Todd, Justin, John, Ellen, Sarah, Jean, Ross, Peter M, Mike and Alvan The Festival of Birds runs from May 3-20 - for a detailed schedule visit www.festivalofbirds.ca For highlights and other update follow us at www.twitter.com/PointPeleeNP The Festival is brought to you by Parks Canada - Point Pelee National Park and the Friends of Point Pelee.
