Good morning birders, There are plenty of birds around the park again on this chilly morning. There was no significant movement of birds to or from the area last night, so most of yesterday's rarities are likely still around.
The most productive trail again seems to be Spicebush, where there were good numbers of warblers, with highlights including Wilson's Warbler. A male Scarlet Tanager has been hopping around on the ground near the split in the trail giving incredibly good looks. A Yellow-throated Warbler has been visiting the Visitor Center feeders regularly his morning. Hooded and Canada Warblers have been seen at Pony Barn, while Hooded and Blue-winged were at the maintenance area. Late reports from yesterday include a Kentucky Warbler at the maintenance area heard in the morning and 2 Clay-colored Sparrows near the start of Marsh Trail. Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre. More information on the park's nature programs and the Friends of Rondeau is available at the Friends' website: www.rondeauprovincialpark.ca. Directions: Take exit 101 from Highway 401 and drive South 16 km on Chatham Kent Road 15. Turn right and follow the signs to the park. The Bird Sightings Book, Bird Sightings Board, Bird Checklists and other relevant information are to be found at the Visitor Centre. To reach the Visitor Centre from the park Gate, travel 6 km South on Rondeau Road to Gardiner Ave., then follow it around the bend to the parking lot.
