A very exciting day in the Park today, following on the heals of a great day yesterday. A lot of migrants and some really great birds.
No one has reported the KIRTLAND'S WARBLER again yet today. People up near Blue Heron located an immature male BLUE GROSBEAK and a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER. At the Tip this morning, a LAUGHING GULL and a PACIFIC LOON were seen, though the latter was a fly-by heading NW from the Tip. Other species of note at the Tip included LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, LITTLE GULL. A GREEN HERON flew in off the lake. In the woods near the Tip were many species of warbler including NORTHERN PARULA, HOODED WARBLER, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. Also a WINTER WREN and a MARSH WREN were noted. There were EASTERN BLUEBIRDS in the Sparrow Field and just south of there on the old tram loop trail, an EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL. On Post Wood Trail, a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was noted. North of the Half-way stop on the road an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was seen and heard. Along the Woodland Nature Trail, no sign of the PROTHONOTARY WARBLER which was reported from but people found a roosting SCREECH-OWL, and several YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS were seen. YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO were also seen in Tildon Woods and a few other places. Also in Tildon, HOODED WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, NORTHERN PARULA, and SCARLET TANAGER. Along Shuster Trail a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was found.
