Over beach West of boat house at Darlington ParK Bruce Aikins and I (Stu
Williams) observed a small flock of seven Whimbrel circle our location several
times at about 60 feet altitude. One of the whimbrel displayed the upper
white rump which descended into the whitish tail , characteristic of the
European population of Whimbrel. The birds settled on the beach infront of us
for several minutes and took flight, with a small flock of black bellied
plovers, toward the Northwest. The white back descending into the whitish tail
was again very obvious.
