Hi birders,

Don Sutherland and I made a quick stop at the Powassan Sewage Lagoons this
morning just after 10:30. We were very pleasantly surprised by the
richness (12 species) and abundance (250+ individuals) of shorebirds in the
SW cell. These were highlighted by a juvenile Wilson's Phalarope, 9
Baird's Sandpipers and 5 Stilt Sandpipers. Our complete list along with a
map to the location is available here:

Ron Ridout, Barb Charlton, Burke Korol, Alvan Buckley and Jeff Costa
apparently had a similar list at 2:30 this afternoon. The habitat in the
SW cell is currently excellent for shorebirds.

Directions: The lagoons are just north of the town of Powassan and are
accessed by travelling south on Highway 11 from Callandar (i.e. you have to
go north of Powassan and then turn around and go south) and taking the
small road about 500m south of the public works yard.
