Large trucks are demolishing the sand pile on the west side of Cobourg harbour
this morning, Tuesday September 2, and there are no shorebirds of any kind
present.

The avocet here yesterday was at the precise spot where one appeared May 26,
2013. Given there are only 11 previous records of American Avocet EVER for
Northumberland County, there was some speculation that this could have been the
same bird, but comparison of bill shape and size from excellent photos taken on
both occasions suggest that they were different individuals.
