Visitors:
A high turnout of visitors today enjoyed the first weekend of the Hawk
Festival.
Weather:
Skies were cloudy for most of the count period with temperatures ranging
from 16.4 to 20.2C. Winds averaged 6-11km/h with top speeds of 12km/h at
some points in the day. Winds were out of the southwest for the entire
count period.
Raptor Observations:
A bit of a slower day than yesterday due to southwest winds throughout the
day. 10 species of raptors were recorded during the count with highlights
including 2 Peregrine Falcons and 5 Merlin. Much thanks to Karen Padbury,
who helped with counting and meeting with visitors for most of the day.

Canada Goose - 68, Mute Swan - 60, Wood Duck - 1, Mallard - 100,
Blue-winged Teal - 3, Green-winged Teal - 1, Pied-billed Grebe - 7,
Double-crested Cormorant - 75, Great Blue Heron - 4, Great Egret - 5,
Black-crowned Night-Heron - 1, American Coot - 60, Killdeer - 9, Greater
Yellowlegs - 1, Lesser Yellowlegs - 3, Ring-billed Gull - many, Herring
Gull - many, Caspian Tern - 30, Mourning Dove - 3, Chimney Swift - 4,
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 27, Belted Kingfisher - 1, Downy Woodpecker -
2, Northern Flicker - 3, Red-eyed Vireo - 1, Purple Martin - 126, Tree
Swallow - 45, Bank Swallow - 4, Barn Swallow - 5, Black-capped Chickadee -

Predictions:
North winds of about 20km/h are expected tomorrow with temperatures from
11-16C and partially cloudy.
