HUDSONIAN GODWIT (19) were found at the Shirley's Bay mud flats (west of the 
causeway) on the 15th. They were seen again at dawn the next morning but except 
for one that was present briefly at noon that day they have not been seen 
again. 
 
NELSON'S SPARROW (1) was seen in the wetland near the mouth of Constance Creek 
at the Ottawa River in Constance Bay (east of the east end of Allbirch Rd) on 
the 18th. The reporter indicated that boots are required and "There are a 
couple of dead fallen trees in the wetland and the Nelson's popped up onto that 
along with a Lincoln's Sparrow, many Swamps and Song Sparrows and Common 
Yellowthroats." Another was found the same day at the St-Isidore lagoon.  

The Britannia Conservation Area was very active last weekend. One birder 
reported on the 15th "Sunday was the best with 17 species of warblers and 3 
vireos.  Of interest.  Warblers - Yellow-rumped 75+; Cape May 3; Yellow 2; 
Magnolia 3; Chestnut-sided 3; Blackburnian 1; Palm 2; Bay-breasted 2; Blackpoll 
4, Black & White 2; Redstart 1; Tennessee 10; Nashville 4; Parula 4; Wilson`s 
1; Yellowthroat 1; Black-throated Green 1. Also Rusty Blackbird 3; 
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 2; Thrasher; Broad-winged Hawk 1; Tanager 2; Red-eyed 
Vireo 2; Warbling Vireo 3; Blue-headed Vireo 1; Golden-crowned Kinglet 2."
Also seen at the BCA that day were RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (1), PHILADELPHIA VIREO 
(1), GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH (1 heard and another seen) and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER 
(1).
 
Small numbers of shorebirds continue to be seen in the area: 
- Shirley's Bay mud flats on the 15th there were DUNLIN (3 juv), PECTORAL 
SANDPIPER (9), SEMIPALMATED PLOVER (10) and GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS. On 
the 16th there were also BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER (1), SOLITARY, SEMIPALMATED, 
LEAST and PECTORAL (20) SANDPIPER. A SANDERLING (1) was seen at the Shirley's 
Bay boat launch on the 13th
- on the sod farms along Snake Island Rd east of Kars there were SEMIPALMATED 
PLOVER (6), BAIRD'S SANDPIPER (2 juv) and GREATER YELLOWLEGS (1) on the 13th 
and 
AMERICAN PIPIT (40) on the 17th 
- Andrew Haydon Park west mudflats and at Britannia Point DUNLIN (1) on the 13th
- Moodie Dr ponds on the 15th BLACK-BELLIED (1) and AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER (1)
 
Interesting sightings:
- CAROLINA WREN (1) in the Hurdman Park woods on the 13th
- WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW (1) at Shirley's Bay on the 16th
- RED-NECKED PHALAROPE (1) and SORA (1) at the Embrun lagoon on the 17th
- RUSTY BLACKBIRD have been moving through our area in numbers all week
- CACKLING GOOSE (2) were seen over the BCA woods on the 13th and (1) along 
Moodie Dr on the 15th
- SNOW GOOSE (1) was seen along Fallowfield Dr between Merivale and Woodroffe 
on the 13th
- SWAINSON'S and GRAY-CHEEKED (1) THRUSH were heard overhead the evening of the 
16th
