A few others stopped by as well. Weather: Balmy and humid, lingering fog made for another visibility-challenged outing. Toward the end of the watch, approaching rain chased us away. The wind, light to moderate, was highly variable. Raptor Observations: A smattering of Sharp-shinned Hawks and not much else. Non-raptor Observations: Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallows were abundant out over the lake. Predictions: After the warmer weather the last two days, a cold front should be pouring into the area overnight. For tomorrow, it looks like mostly cloudy skies with mild temps, moderate west wind and a slight chance of rain. If the rain holds off, it could be a pretty productive day. Come on out and enjoy the first day of HawkFest weekend. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
