Wildlife Preservation Canada would like express our gratitude to everyone who was involved in the 2013 Eastern Loggerhead Shrike field season through surveying and reporting sightings. Your efforts greatly enhance those of our field staff; reports are very important for establishing accurate population counts and for determining migration routes. The southward migration of the shrikes is now well under way, so keep your eyes peeled and please report any sightings to us (1-800-956-6608 or adminATwildlifepreservation.ca). Please pay particular attention to any bands and report these with your sightings. This year all wild adults banded received LB/SI on the right as part of their 4-colour combination, while captive-releases birds will either have a 4-colour combo with LB/SI on the left, or will simply have RD/SI on left if they're one of the almost 40 birds we released with a geolocator.
For a detailed summary of season results, see our annual report at: http://wildlifepreservation.ca/species-in-need/canadian-species/species-9/ under 'Newsletters and Field Reports', or request a copy from hazelATwildlifepreservation.ca Thank you again to all those who volunteered their time to the recovery effort for this critically endangered bird. If you are interested in participating in the Adopt-A-Site Program next season or would like more information, feel free to contact us.
