Among their sightings were Coopers, Sharp-Shinned Hawks, resident Bald Eagles and numerous marsh birds. Also visiting were John and Lisa from Fort Wayne, Beryl Lougher from Collingwood, Mary-Beth & Davivid Worthington from Toronto, and farthest traveled Laura & Phil Jordan from Vienna, Austria! Weather: Winds were light from the SE to SSE all day with temperatures ranging from 14.8 to 22.3. Light fog burned off shortly after sunrise, and gave way to clear skies. Barometric pressure fell from 30.13 to 30.03 by the end of the count. Raptor Observations: Eight species of raptors were recorded today, highlighted by two Osprey and 105 Sharp-shinned Hawks. Not bad given the SE winds. Thanks to Donny Moore, John Winebrenner, Lisa Silvey, and Dennis Patrick who helped spot birds today. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jay-2,220, Canada Goose-130, American Coot-89, Red-winged Blackbird-87, American Goldfinch-74, Ring-billed Gull-70, Mute Swan-39, Killdeer-36, Great Egret-14, Downy Woodpecker-5, Northern Flicker-4, Cedar Waxwing-4. Additional species included Wood Duck, American Black Duck, Mallard, Blue-winged Teal, Pied-billed Grebe, Greater Yellowlegs, Herring Gull, Mourning Dove, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Belted Kingfisher, American Robin, Gray Catbird, Yellow-rumped Warbler, White-throated Sparrow, and Northern Cardinal. Monarchs-14. Predictions: S-SW winds at 10 km/h with light rain.
