It may be the same bird that was reported over a month ago, but there is (still) an American White Pelican in Cootes Paradise, Hamilton. It was seen today swimming offshore from the marsh lookout and later loafing on Hickory Island along with Mute Swans, DC Cormorants etc. etc. The water levels are dropping leaving increasing amounts of exposed mud around Cootes, not many shorebirds today except for Lesser Yellowlegs and Killdeer. Cootes Paradise is an offshoot of the Hamilton Harbour and is accessible along trails through Royal Botanical Gardens properties. Use Google maps to locate Royal Botanical Gardens Arboretum, Hamilton, then follow signs to Captain Cootes Trail and look for Hickory Island and Marsh lookout.
