Some clearing occurred in the afternoon but not before a short shower sent us scurrying for cover. The wind was moderate and out of the southeast. Raptor Observations: Birds trickled past throughout, wandering through the fog. Highlights included close fly-bys from a male Northern Harrier and a young Peregrine Falcon. Non-raptor Observations: Chimney Swifts (30+) were abundant. Monarchs (40+) continued their southward march. Predictions: Overcast with warm temps, light southwest wind and a 40 percent chance of rain. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
