I took at drive out to Mitchell's Bay on this fine evening to see if the
long-staying Marbled Godwit was in its place. It was, but a SECOND Marbled
Godwit was with it! Just as I looked at it, I got the text about a
Hudsonian Godwit at Ridgetown Lagoons!
The one did not stay long and took flight towards St. Anne's Island to the
north.
No sign of the Snowy Egret this evening, but could be anywhere. Last Friday
evening we saw it fly from Ticky Tacky Point (near end of Angler Line) and
go to its usual spot. It was only there briefly then flew back towards the
point. Perhaps it was in that area.
Directions:
Off highway 40 south of Wallaceburg, find Electric Line (west) (county road
42). Follow to Bear Line and make a short jog to the left over to Bay Line.
Follow Bay Line straight into the village to the waterfront. A park and
parking lot are on the right. The godwit feeds on the mud in front of the
marina to the north.
