Only morning fog and a light smear of clouds injected some variety. Raptor Observations: Turkey Vultures kept coming today. The fog burned off and the wind picked up by late morning sending a long stream of vultures slithering through the overhead sky. But an afternoon shift made for more difficult counting later, the flight line moving ever further away. Non-raptor Observations: Songbirds were again mostly absent. Blue Jays were moving throughout but again in small numbers. Two Black-crowned Night Herons, two Canvasbacks and one Common Loon were sighted. Monarchs (230+) continued to push southward. Predictions: More of the same. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
