On a lake watch this afternoon, Dave Don, Barry Cherriere and I got on a
flock of Bonaparte's Gulls at a distance out on the water. The gulls were
cavorting around doing short flights and then landing again on the water
making for short views. A few of the gulls got up to fly around and amongst
them was an adult Sabine's Gull. It is possible that Dave and I saw a
kittiwake amongst this flock as well but we were unsure. It was difficult
as the birds were not co-operative. The Sabine's gave good views on a
couple of its flights. Earlier an adult and juvenile Parasitic Jaeger came
in relatively close (wave tower) and then flew back out into the lake.

Barry is still down watching this flock of Bonaparte's and I will update if
he advises further. Just wanted to let people know that conditions were
picking up as the breeze is getting a bit stronger from the east.

Directions to Van Wagners Beach: Take the Centennial Parkway (Hwy.20) exit
from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North Service Rd.,
turn left and continue west as it turns into Van Wagners Beach Road.
Continue to the parking lots at either Hutch's Restaurant or the Lakeland
Centre viewing tower and view the lake anywhere near here.

Cheers,
Cheryl Edgecombe
