Not much temperature variation with a low of 11.6 and a high of 12.6C. The winds were out of the SW most of the day in the 5 - 10 km/hr range. Raptor Observations: Not much moving. Only 31 raptors of 4 species observed, with 27 of the 31 being Sharp-shinned Hawks. Non-raptor Observations: Not much moving again today. Some species and counts of interest include: Killdeer-17; Semipalmated Plover-3; the 1st Bonaparte's Gulls-14; Blue Jay-460; American Crow-18; Red-winged Blackbird-250. Other "blackbirds" were non-existent except for 1 Common Grackle and 1 European Starling. When the rain started a mini-flock of song birds landed in the scrubs around the hawk tower and included: Eastern Phoebe-1; Brown Creeper-2; Ruby-crowned Kinglet-11; Nashville Warbler-1; Yellow-rumped Warbler-8; Song Sparrow-2. Predictions: The Friday forecast is for mainly sunny skies; temperature of 7 - 18; and winds out of the SW again.
