Birders,

Around 3:15pm this afternoon I had prolonged looks at a 1st basic (1st
winter) FRANKLIN'S GULL off the east beach of Point Pelee (due east of the
Visitor's Centre). The bird was reasonably close to shore (good looks
through binoculars) as it took part in a mixed feeding frenzy of gulls,
cormorants and mergansers. While there is a chance the bird could be
refound around the Pelee area (Tip, East Beach, Wheatley Harbour etc) it
may be worth mentioning that we are in the midst of a prolonged period of
westerly winds and that a few more may be lurking at other traditional
spots over the coming days.

The park was very birdy today overall, and I managed over 90 species with
minimal coverage and effort in the Pelee birding circle.

Good Birding!

Brandon
