Temperatures stayed steady in the upper 30s and lower 40s. The wind was moderate and out of the west. Raptor Observations: Turkey Vultures put on another spectacular show, often pausing to form colossal kettles low and close before crossing overhead. Not as many buteos mixed in with them today, though, and Sharp-shinned Hawk numbers, which were up the past days, came down today. Non-raptor Observations: American Crows (40000+) filled the skies from beginning to end. A flock of Cedar Waxwings (20+) passed over in the morning. Predictions: Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 40s, strong west wind and a small chance of passing showers. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
