Weather: Temperature ranged from 9.2-11.6 degrees. Winds were out of the SSE throughout the day, increasing in the afternoon period. Heavy rain around 11:45am put the count on hold until about 12:30 when the weather cleared again. By 3pm, storm clouds were on the horizon once again. Raptor Observations: Not much raptor flight today. A total of 11 birds of 5 species. 2 local Bald Eagles flew around the marsh during the morning. Non-raptor Observations: Though there was a lack of hawks, passerine numbers were high. Highlights can be seen on the Ebird checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S15694964 Predictions: Sunny in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon with a high of 7 degrees. Strong west winds for the duration of the day. West winds are never great for the hawk tower. Perhaps a similar day for raptor numbers as today and less passerines. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jeremy Hatt ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
