Just to add to Willie's post:
The tern was seen all afternoon up to nightfall in the vicinity of the Black
Rock Canal pier at the north end of Squaw Island and appeared to roost on the
pier for the night. This is the same location where it had been reported earlier
in the day. Birders were viewing the bird from the intersection of Niagara
Blvd and Highland Avenue in Fort Erie.
It was resting on the north end of the pier with a flock of Bonaparte's Gulls
throughout the afternoon, occasionally making very short flights and returning
to the pier. Late in the afternoon it fed continuously for about 15-20 minutes
and appeared to catch quite a few fish (Emerald Shiners?) from beside the pier.
At dusk the tern joined up with several Common Terns and appeared to roost on
the pier while the Bonaparte's sat in the water. I would imagine that it will
be present at dawn.
Good luck,
Josh
