This morning, in amongst the hundreds of Herring Gulls and smaller numbers of
Ring-billed Gulls at 'Lake Downie' I found a single Glaucous Gull and a single
Lesser Black-backed Gull. Both were in adult winter plumage. A local red-tail
put the flock up a few times so I had good opportunities to study the birds as
they landed. I also had a good look through the large flock of Canada Geese
but couldn't find a cackler.

Lake Downie is one of the new storm-water pond network that the city has built
over the last few years. They are becoming increasingly 'birdy' as the
vegetation grows. Lake Downie is on the south side of Lorne Avenue between
Romeo Street and Downie Street. It is close to the Stratford dump and many of
the birds move back and forth.
