Hello all,
I just wanted to alert you to the fact that there is current discussion as to whether this bird is pure or hybrid. As an accidental bird in our area, it is being reviewed and one expert has already identified it as a hybrid Ross's x Greater Snow Goose (with strong Ross's parentage). I don't intend to open a debate here on Ontbirds as this is not the forum, though if you wish to reply privately, I will ensure your comments get to the right place. P.S. Although I missed the Brant, the Ross's was still present yesterday, as was the American White Pelican. However, in the case of the pelican, this cold snap had already frozen half of the river basin.
