Hi there, The Clay-colored Sparrow, found yesterday afternoon by Giovanni Pari, was present today along Pierce Rd. albeit at a different address: 3024 Pierce Rd (red house rimmed with cedars, N side of Rd.). Two observations were made: one at 11:55 am and another at 12:25 pm; both short in duration. There were and handful of American Tree Sparrows and plenty of juncos present; all skulking about in shrubbery, so sealing the ID took a bit of work (and many near-heart attacks). Also present at 3024 Pierce was a female Brown-headed Cowbird. Anyhow, wherever the juncos and tree sparrows are along that particular stretch of road is your best bet to see the CCSP!
I left the North Gower area and headed for the Cambrian/Trail/Moodie area. Plenty of buteos: 7 Red-tailed Hawks and 2 light morph Rough-leggeds throughout that area. Also present was a single juvenile Northern Shrike (Brophy/Moodie intersection). Directions to Clay-colored Sparrow site: from HWY 416, take Roger Stevens Dr (HWY 6) going west, turn south on McCordick Rd, turn west on Pierce until address 3024.
