I probably don't have to remind birders that Ontbirds is a source of information for finding birds.

Reporting the location of birds is different from documenting birds. Documenting birds should be done through the local area compilers of North American Birds as well as eBird.

While it may be easier said than done, all Ontbird posts need directions that give anyone reading a chance of relocating the reported bird. Reporting a bird from the field is timely and great but we still need directions. That requires either typing or a knowledge of your handheld. Figure out the cut and paste functions on your phone and use them. Second and third clarifying posts are understandable but not well received. For some, a late report composed at home with directions may be the best compromise.
