All Birders and CBC Participants,

Here is a summary attached to today for the 2013 OVN CBC - this was the 8th OVN
CBC. Although the total species count is down somewhat from last year, we had
some wonderful birds appear for the count. Highlight birds were Snowy Owl (1),
several sparrow species, Gray Catbird (2), Red-headed Woodpecker (3) , Tufted
Titmouse(1), Ruffed Grouse (4). Locations identified for some species. Some
misses we should try to find in the remaining count week are: Cedar Waxwing,
blackbird spp., Yellow-rumped Warbler, etc.

Sunday started out calm and then after 11:00am the wind started to pick up and
must have hit 50km/h in mid-afternoon with snow too. The day was overcast and
the temp was -7C in the morning rising to -3C in the afternoon.

Considering we had fewer counters this year, we still did well with 76 species
on Sunday and two new ones (a Turkey Vulture and Snow Geese) appear Monday in
count week.

Thirty people helped count this year.
