The GREAT GRAY OWL was being viewed by about 30 people at noon today on
CedarBrook Trail, a half kilometre or so north of Columbus Road, west of the
village of Brooklin. The SNOWY OWL was at the docks of the Whitby Marina at the
west end of Front St. (runs west off Brock St.) around 1 P.M. Looking into the
Harbour from where the creek crosses Brock St., one AMERICAN COOT could be
seen. Closer to the lake, and visible from just north of the parking lot that
is at the base of Brock St., were 4 NORTHERN PINTAIL amidst the Mallards,
Greater Scaup, Common Mergansers etc.

At #10 Scarborough-Pickering Townline, just north of Finch Ave., the flock of
about 100 Icterids reported on ebird was present. There were about 15
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS, and the rest were RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS; I didn't see
any of the GRACKLES, which were also reported by the original observer. The
house here sells home-made pies on a trust basis (the pies are on a covered
shelf and you put your money in a jar); you may wish to consider buying one as
a way of saying thanks for the nice feeders they provide here. I bought one and
will try to work include information about its taste if I make any postings
tomorrow.
