| 4:30pm Directly off the lighthouse on the pier, two adult male and two female Harlequin Ducks, courting. Also seen to frequent the bay to the east. Directions: Whitby Harbour is accessed by taking the Brock St. exit from the 401 at Whitby and traveling south approx 2km to the harbour parking area. USE CAUTION on the icy unfenced area of the pier! Also present was the 'resident' Snowy Owl (on the west breakwall) and other typical ducks, geese and swans. Good luck!
