March 27 - At Niagara Falls at the Black-crowned Night-Heron Colony (about a Km upstream of the brink of the Canadian Falls) at Weseloh Rocks, there were 13 Black-cr. Night-Herons (up from 4 March 18). about 3 km further upstream there was an immature Bald Eagle on the ice. It was then chased by an adult Bald Eagle (although it briefly chased the adult). A couple of minutes later the adult eagle landed on the ice close to where the immature had been. I could see no eagles on or at the nest on Navy Island. Navy Island is 5 Km upstream of the brink of the Canadian Falls. Then view Navy Island from New York water intakes later from 5:00 to 5:35 I intermittently saw the adult Bald Eagle 5 scope diameters downstream from the eagle nest. At 5:28 PM the IMMATURE Bald Eagle landed on the edge of the nest. At 5:33 it moved about 5 feet south of the nest.
There were 86 Great Blue Herons on Motor Island near the south tip of Grand Island and 4 on Frog Island. At nearby Strawberry Island the nesting Bald Eagle made a brief appearance when It stood at the edge of the nest appearing to engage in egg rolling behavior.
