Hi Folks: After 28 Years of living here on the Westminster Ponds, we Finally added a Pileated Woodpecker to our Yard List!!! I have been waiting for this bird to arrive and it was a great Easter present to see him at noon today!! My wife Christine and son Andrew also saw the bird for a New Yard Bird!!
He was calling from a large tree 2 houses from our house, and we got a great look at him in the bare tree. He then flew off into the woods. Our home backs onto the Westminster Ponds, so there is a good chance this is the same bird that was reported earlier this week by another birder in the woods. He was also pecking at a tree right behind our house and making quite a racket!! He later made a nice Fly Over our backyard and was last seen heading East. We live on Parliament Cres, and our backyard backs out onto the Westminster Ponds wooded area. Glad to finally be able to check off "Pileated Woodpecker" for the Yard List!! We have peanut, and suet feeders amoung others in the yard….so maybe he will make an appearance at the feeders if we are lucky!! Regards….ROB Robert S.
