Hello Ontbirders, After about an hour and 20 minute wait Nancy and I and a London birder (sorry forgot to ask your name) saw the Blue Grosbeak as it came into the Crabapple tree prior to going to the feeders. It arrived at about 5:30 PM and we watched it for about 15 minutes on and off until we left. The bird was actively competing with Cowbirds for access to the feed so did appear a little spooked. It was odd as there was almost no activity at the feeders for most of the time we were waiting and then all at once the bird appeared followed by the Cowbirds. I did manage a couple of poor record pics.
The owners Rita and Ron were almost as excited as we were once we saw the bird and they were very friendly and hospitable so please show your best behaviour. Directions below courtesy of Ken Burrell. Directions: from Mitchell, head south on Blanchard Street (County Road 23) and then turn right (west) onto County Road 20 at the town of Russeldale. Take the second right onto Road 168 and then a quick left onto 19 Line and the house (#6494) is on your right. Please park on the road and walk down the laneway. The bird landed in the crab apple tree beside the house a couple of times before visiting the green feeder closest to the house.
